If a PC*MILER product was purchased along with signing up for the ALK Annual Support & Update Program (AUP license purchase), customers are entitled to use PC*MILER during the term of their agreement and also to receive data updates when and if available. AUP licensed users will have access to the base version data set as well as to more recently released data sets as they are available.
For those who do not sign up for the AUP, PC*MILER is purchased as a Perpetual license which entitles the licensed user to available software patches released for the purchased version. For more information on upgrading a Perpetual license to an AUP license, please contact an Enterprise Solutions account executive at 800-377-6453 ext. 1 or email sales@alk.com.
To check if an update is available to your license type, in PC*MILER select the Help Ribbon, then Check for Updates and then follow the prompts on the screen. Before an update begins, close all open instances of PC*MILER. If you have a third-party program open that accesses any PC*MILER component (e.g. PC*MILER|Connect or PC*MILER|Mapping), please close them before continuing.
Updating Workstation Installation: For workstation installations, first follow the steps to install updates on the Server. Next, to keep all workstations in sync with what is running on the Server, run the Updater on each workstation to install the same updates and/or patches.

This update opens the bridge closure in Wilmington, DE, on I-495 between Exit 2 and Exit 3 (near 39.727374 N, 75.528965 W, DE). By applying this update, the routing database will now use this road segment in route calculations.
NOTE: If you decided to manage road closures on your own without downloading map database overrides, please remove the manually applied Avoid from this road segment in the Custom Roads Manager.
PC*MILER 28 Q2 Map Data Overrides

The PC*MILER 28 map database has been updated to reflect a bridge closure in Wilmington, DE, on I-495 between Exit 2 and Exit 3 (near 39.727374 N, 75.528965 W, DE). By applying this update, the routing database will no longer use this road segment in route calculations.
If you are not on an AUP license, or if you would like to manage road closures on your own without downloading a map database override, use PC*MILER’s Custom Roads Manager. See Chapter 12 in the PC*MILER 28 User’s Guide for more detailed instructions if you need any further assistance to the following:
• Zoom the map to Wilmington, DE
• Pan the map to the right to focus on the section of I-495 between Exit 2 and Exit 3
(between E 12th Street and Terminal Ave/DE-9)
• On the map, right click and select Avoids/Favors then Avoid Roads
• Click every road segment on I-495 between Exit 2 and Exit 3 in both directions and a red highlight will appear
on the map
• Go to the Tools Ribbon, then select Manager in the Avoids/Favors section
• Add a Comment of “Road Closure: I-495 in Wilmington DE” on each related customization
• To confirm if the road segment is fully closed,
• in a Route window enter Chester, PA and Mayview Manor, DE as stops
• go to Options and select “Use Custom Roads”
• run the route to confirm on the map if the red highlighted section of road has been closed
• if you go back to Options and uncheck “Use Custom Roads” you’ll see that the section of I-495 is now used
• To set your Default Route Options to always use the “Use Custom Roads” setting,
• go to the Routes Ribbon then select Defaults under the General section
• in the dialog that opens mark the box next to “Use Custom Roads” then select Save.
